Looking for a Sugar Scrub?
Do you need a solution to dry skin and burning hands during the winter months? Could something as simple as a sugar scrub be your answer?
I heard that there was a hand model living in my town. Rumor had it that she wore gloves all the time and protected her hands from everything.
She did not do dishes. She did not do laundry.
Can I just say, I daydreamed about what that was like!!! A life with an excuse NOT to do laundry or dishes, yep, I wanted her job. I thought about wearing my pretty gloves everywhere and acting like her (call it method acting) but gloves off, my winter hands would give me away.
I wondered when the temperature dipped below freezing, did her hands turn into withered flaking flaming pomegranates like mine did or was there some secret that she had that I needed!!
Somewhere around 40 degrees, my hand modeling daydreams quickly fade into a mad dash to find something to make being caught red handed, literally, stop.
I’ve tried many hand lotions. I’ve weathered the northern winters most of my life and nothing seemed to work!
A few years ago my best friend got me a sugar scrub for Christmas and I knew then that I had found the secret. When I finished that wonderful pumpkin sugar scrub, I had to experiment with different oils and scents and create my own sugar scrub so that I would never have cracked and dried hands again.
Using a sugar scrub has been a game changer for me. When I take the time to use it, it makes my skin feel wonderful.
I love them so much that I like to give these sweet treats as gifts because you can scent a sugar scrub with essential oils to match the season. I like Doterra Essentials Oils the best but there are many different brands that you can use.
Writing the type of scent with calligraphy is a pretty and personal touch for shower gifts.
This holiday, I painted on wooden lids to label sugar scrubs and salt scrubs as Christmas gifts.
An added bonus to preparing my sugar scrub recipe is that there are no additives or preservatives. I like to use natural ingredients which have helped my battle against being the girl who wants to hide her hands all winter and not because I am a hand model.
Ok….I still adore my pretty gloves that I bought at Bryant Park in NYC but at least I can take them off without shame or my hands sticking to the wool inside because they are so chapped!
I may not be hand model material, but that won’t stop me from wanting my hands to look (and most importantly) feel great any time of year.
