How to Create Last Minute DIY Halloween Ideas
Do you need some last minute DIY Halloween Ideas?
In the last weeks of October, I’ve discovered that stores have long since reduced all Halloween products. If you want something for a last minute party you’d better brush off your DIY skills because we’ve got you covered with tons of ideas.
Stencil a Pumpkin
I found huge pumpkins for a steal so I figured they needed something to make them stick out. This is a very quick last minute DIY Halloween idea. I used a large stencil, tape, and marker to upscale the pumpkin. You can brand an initial, street address, or house number depending on the stencil.
Use a sharpie with a wide tip for large pumpkins. The variety of markers is amazing. You can use any color that you want to match your holiday decor. Tip: Use a permanent marker so that the color doesn’t run when wet.
Pumpkin Message Board
Angie, from the Country Chic Cottage presents a variation on using pumpkins to decorate. She incorporated a way for your family to add the many things that you are grateful for on the back.
I never thought of writing on a pumpkin once you finished stenciling it so I thought that this was brilliant. What a fun way to get the entire family involved in adding to the last minute DIY decorations.
Stain Glass Votives
I loved this idea. Nina at Grandma Ideas demonstrates how to create a wonderful table decor or outdoor lighting out of inexpensive votives. Here tutorial is easy to follow and she encourages you to do this with a younger crowd.
You can even extend this theme into the Thanksgiving season. For me, I love the practicality of using a DIY home decor item for more than one season.
Lanterns
Sadie at Sadie Seasongoods stole my heart with her lantern. She found a cast off lantern and brought it back to life with a few tricks. Lanterns are very trendy right now and this tutorial is a simple way to use a decor piece but with a holiday twist.
This is another project that you could swap out the theme for other holidays. Love it!!!!
Hand Scrubs
Pumpkin, Carmel, and Spice, Oh my! These are the favorite scents of the season. From September to January, everything from coffee flavors to hand soaps screams fall. I’m a huge fan of sugar scrubs. I have several around my house but I’m loving what Stacie, from Simply Stacie, put together in hers.
As guests are coming to your home, you can whip up a scrub to live in your bathroom or give away as a party gift throughout the holiday season. It is the perfect last minute DIY Halloween idea because the recipe ingredient are often in your cabinet and it’s quick to throw together.
Entertaining Drinks
These drinks are just as much a decor item as a part of the menu. Colleen from Shibley Smiles rounds off our DIY last minute Halloween ideas. Admittedly, In the past, I did not put much effort into creative drinks when am throwing a party but these drinks could pack a punch!!
I am changing my habits because look at these drinks…they rock. They are colorful, fun, and certainly a conversation piece. Neither drink is labor intensive so it is a perfect last minute item to add to any party.
I can’t wait to hear which of these projects you’ve done or plan to do. Adding a last minute DIY Halloween idea often is the cherry on top of an already awesome sundae. Comment below and remember to let us brag about your DIY skills on our Pinterest page.
