Hi friend!, I’m Sandy. It is awesome to meet you. Just so you know, my life is full of chasing my two sons, balancing schedules, and trying to live life to the fullest. I love helpful hints and solutions to help my day go better while traveling abroad and especially in the home.
Read on if you can relate!!!
Why was Pink Tool Girl created?
After my son got locked in our bathroom and I could not find a screwdriver in the house to rescue him, I wanted my own set of tools. Why not pink!! I’m in a house full of boys so at least everyone knows which tools are mine.
My husband, who always does his research, and who never wanted to have another phone call like the one he received as I frantically looked for a screwdriver in his workshop, found a toolbox that fits me perfectly and surprised me with this wonderful gift.
My very own Pink Tool Box was delivered Christmas day. I now own 2 thanks to a friend who also got me another one and I happily gift this little gem to any bride or homeowner to get them started.
Watch this video to see what I recommend to be in your toolbox and how you can use these tools for your DIY projects.
How can Pink Tool Girl help any homeowner or renter?
When we decided to move into a 115-year-old Victorian duplex and convert it into a single family home, I knew my pink tools were about to get busy so I dubbed myself the Pink Tool Girl and got to work. I thought of this as a journal to let family and friends see our progress.
I also discovered that my outlet to journal the process was very helpful to others so I started to share details with tips, step by step instructions, and added more pictures. I loved learning how to do something and passing it on to others. I often didn’t have a major project done so I would do little home decor projects to have material to send out each week. I was finding my way in this blog world that was so new to me.
How am I qualified to help other homeowners and renters?
You see…..I’m a former music and theater teacher. For 15 years, I taught music and built sets for musicals. Actually, my degree is in directing so I directed my dad and a few of my colleagues (who would drag their tools to rehearsals) and I participated in building sets. I learned a great deal during those years about having the right tool for the job.
After starting this renovation, I realized I missed teaching. Connecting with people, making easy to follow checklists, and detailing instructions, materials, and tools became a huge priority for me.
I’ve talked with so many people who want to do DIY projects but don’t know where to begin in the vast ocean of videos and pictures. Our current rehab is almost over and it was a huge project. We learned so much about so many things and we consider it a joy to share with you what we know so that your process can go smoothly.
This is the kitchen and living room 90% complete.
The Focus for Pink Tool Girl in 2018
While the past 3 years have been mainly blog posts with video thrown in here and there, I am stepping out in 2018 to design Pink Tool Girl as a video website with courses that will help the DIY enthusiasts learn how to do Home Improvement and Home Decor projects.
Being a teacher and theatre girl, this is a natural fit for me. It takes me twice as long to type something than it does to say it and explain it.
Pink Tool Girl will still contain text and step by step tutorials but my focus will be on providing you with great video content that will explain the job and give you the instructions of how to get the project done with correct tools.
What does our house look like after the renovation?
I’m delighted to report that after 11 months of renovations, our house is 90% done. Seriously, we could have built a new house in that amount of time but what it the fun in that!!!
The extra space both outside and inside is allowing us to entertain and host people in our homes which is what we delight in as a family. Since we moved in, we have had to play catch up, inviting different groups of friends as often as possible.
The extra rooms in this house have also provided me with ample opportunity to stretch my decorating skills. My creativity has been stretched and I’ve become incredibly thrifty with my time and efforts as I have tackled each room. My vision is to keep each space inviting, practical, elegant, and welcoming to anyone who comes into our home while sticking to our budget.
My passion is that you will be blessed by sharing a portion of your day with me and laugh at some of my stories, learn from my experiences, be inspired with new decorating ideas, and ultimately find the right tools for the job that has you excited to tackle in your home.
