Do you have a fall home maintenance checklist?
I do! There are a slew of things to check off my fall home maintenance list.
- Store the pool equipment
- Take the potted plants indoors
- Check the gutters
- Call the HVAC repair guy for a tuneup
- Pack the lawn furniture away
- Paint any large furniture pieces outside
But seriously, I’ve got to pause and confess something to you. I haven’t been as forthcoming with pictures and videos of the projects that we have been doing over the past few months.
We have been busy! Admittedly, I was very ambitious with what I wanted to get done with our home renovation. I hate that fall home maintenance has crept up because I still have one more outdoor project lingering from my summer checklist.
We concentrated our efforts on backyard upgrades like our DIY fence, a treehouse, and a pea gravel patio. If the weather holds, we are going to try to finish a concrete sidewalk and steps.
5 Tips for Fall Home Maintenance
You can break your fall home maintenance into categories. Maintenance doesn’t just involve major work. It can be a series of little DIY tasks to get done before the season changes.
Tip #1 Home Improvements
Your fall home maintenance can have major renovations or tiny projects that you want to conquer.
Whatever your goals are, I hope that the people I’m featuring this week will help you figure out what is best for you.
Tip #2- 7 Steps to Prepare Your Home for Fall
Katie from House Wife How-to’s details a great list. She has a tips which are very helpful. I recommend looking at her list and seeing if you need to copy her list.
Tip #3 Porch Signs
Brenda from Much More Creative designed a cute sign for fall. Changing your porch decor to go with the season is a plus. You don’t want to be that person who has summer pillow out when it is snowing. (I was that person the first winter I had kids…… I get it!!!)
Storing the summer decorations in a bin is key if you plan to reuse them next year. Funny how you may know that but taking action is key. For me, it feels so good to be organized when going into the hibernation season!!!
Tip #4 Daylight Saving Time Help!
White House Crafts created a marque letter. I thought it was a cute way to bring some extra light into your home since we have fewer hours of daylight. She also snagged some of her goodies on sale at Michael’s so check out this project.
Tip #5 Repurpose Vintage Pieces
Lolly Jane repurposed a hutch with paint and wall paper. This may not be on a typical fall home maintenance list but here is why I think that needs to be on a list.
Holidays are coming up and you want to be able to display your special dishes. If you are like me and you are a messy painter despite your best efforts, paint outdoors. These larger DIY projects like painting hutches, tables, or desks need to be done before it is too cold to paint outdoors.
Well friends, that is my 2 cents on fall home maintenance items. I hope that you get your list done so we can move on to the fun stuff!
